The MoonSwatch was always a good idea. Take the Speedmaster DNA. The proportions, the dial architecture, the whole Omega bloodline. Put it in bioceramic at a price that doesn't need a waiting list or a grey market markup. Concept was right from day one. Most of the colorways were fine. The Mission to the Moonphase New Moon is the one that actually nailed it.

Wore it on a bike ride this morning. Thirty miles through the canyon, full sweat, dropped the bike once getting clipped in, and the watch didn't care. That's not a review talking point. That's just a watch doing its job: be there, look good, and don't make you think about it once.

The New Moon colorway is the right call. Dial is matte black, deep enough to make the hands pop, subtle enough that it doesn't look like you're trying. The moonphase at 2 o'clock is the whole point. From across the room it reads like a subdial. Up close it's this tiny little window to the moon. That detail alone makes it worth more than $310.

42mm bioceramic case. Not ceramic, bioceramic. Swatch's thing: ceramic powder mixed with bio-sourced plastic. Wears lighter than it looks, which matters when you're actually using the watch. Scratch resistance is legit. I've had more expensive watches come back from one season looking worse.

The strap is what makes this thing work for everything. Stock strap is fine, does the job. But swap in a Wrist Buddy NATO and the watch becomes a different watch. G10 nylon, good stitching, colors that work with things rather than against them. I've been running stone grey and olive on rotation. Both go from the ride to a dinner you actually had to book. No adjustments required.

That's the real case for this watch. T-shirt and shorts on Saturday. Linen shirt somewhere nice on Saturday night. $310 and it reads right either way. People who know watches know what it is. Everyone else just thinks it looks good. Both of those things are true and neither is a problem.
